Please see the ride announcement in the right column for the June 20th ride in hosted by the Dixons. David and Jean have recently moved to Willis and have invited the HATS to enjoy a day of riding in the scenic rolling hills and afterwards have a bar-b-q lunch and relax in the swimming pool. Here are two popular rides which you will want to add to your calendar. The popular Summer Riverhaven Ride and grill your own lunch will be at the end of July or the beginning of August. Look for details for this ride in the July Newsletter. On the third weekend in September will be the 12th Annual TROLs ride in Jefferson, Texas. This link will navigate you to the TROLs website. To download a PDF file of the TROLs registration form, please click on the photo below. Stay Safe...hope to see you on the road.

On Saturday June 20, David and Jean Dixon will host a HATS Club ride starting from their home in Willis, Texas. The ride will start at 8:30 in the morning. The address is 15482 Arrowhead Loop W., Willis, TX 77378 which is about 50 miles from downtown Houston. Jean works at Ella & N. Loop and it takes her 45 minutes to get home. Here are the directions: Take I45N to exit #98 (Shepherd Hill), exit and continue north on Hwy 75 to the first street on the right (Coaltown) and turn right. Go approx 1.1 miles to RR Tracks. Cross over RR Tracks and veer left onto Arrowhead Loop. Go 3 blocks to "T" (barn-style house in front of you), turn left and follow the road around. Pass the pool & pavilion on the left to the 2nd house on left, past the pavilion. It’s very easy to find, and it’s only are a little over a mile off the freeway. All the streets are well marked. If you miss a turn, here’s the Dixon’s phone number…936-856-8576 or 713-817-1481. There are two options for ride routes…both of them have rolling hills and will make a loop back to the start. Both routes will ride thru New Waverly heading East on F.M.150 and have an option to turn onto Rogers Rd (which is the shorter route) or go further down F.M. 150 to F.M. 1097 and head back towards Willis. Just to let you know, both routes are quite scenic! In fact, on the map F.M. 1097 is marked as a scenic drive. David and Jean will supply the Bar-B-Q…all teams should bring a side dish or dessert. Water and sodas will be available as well. Please RSVP to one of the phone numbers above or email (ddixon@iguananet.com) so David and Jean can know how much Bar-B-Q to plan. Also, plan on a cool refreshing swim at the pool after the ride, so bring your swimsuits and towels and lotion! And there’s more, if anybody wants to fish, you might want to bring a fishing pole and tackle. So everybody come on out and enjoy a beautiful country ride and enjoy a leisure day at the lake and re-kindle some old friendships!

On Saturday May 30, nine HATS tandem teams met at Memorial Park for the 30 mile Breakfast ride. After two flat tires and and a very casual ride through the Heights and out TC Jester, we stopped at the Dry Creek Restaurant for breakfast. Here are a few photos from the ride. |
